My Crummy Domain Names

I am still looking at all the crummy domain names I bought when I was first starting out.

If you’re just starting out save yourself some money and don’t go crazy like I did and buy a bunch of worthless domain names.

I was looking on ebay and found a guy who was trying to sell 500 domain names they were almost all worthless.

That made me feel a little better I only have about a tenth as many worthless domain names as someone else.  It’s always nice to know there is a greater fool out there.

A couple of the .ws names that I am using I am going to delete.  I just need to find a good .com name to replace them with.

I don’t mind the hyphens in the names so much, I know a lot of people think it’s the worst thing you can do but if talking about the choice between.

  • Somesuperlongdomainnamethatnoonewillgetanyway.com

  • Some-super-long-domain-name-that…
Sure if you could get something like cars.com vs. cars-9.com I agree with you the number and the hyphen kill that name.  But the way I figure it all the million dollar domain names have been long gone.

So realistically you’re going to end up with several words stuck together or a hyphen.  I think they are both about the same.  Only the hyphen makes it easier to read.

Some sites would be better off with the hyphen. Like penisland.com I don’t know what they were thinking but I would have bought pen-island.com if I were them.

If they had a porno site I would understand but these guys are trying to sell pens.
