How To Back Up Your TypePad Blog

These are the steps to back up a typepad blog, I wanted to keep track of them incase I ever need them in the future.

Blogger keeps a copy of your blog automatically, so you kind of have a built in backup, that’s kind of hard to beat since I am terribly at doing backups myself.

I have several things that have needed to be backed up for more than 3 months and I still have not done them. *sigh*

1) Go to the "Weblogs" tab within TypePad

2) Select the "List Posts" option on the blog you want to back up

3) Click on "Import/Export" in the menu bar

4) Scroll to the bottom of the page, and right-click to save on the link shown

The last couple days people have been having a lot of trouble with their TypePad blogs.

Some have reported lost posts and a lot of downtime. I really feel sorry for these people I know how annoying it is when your blog is not working.

There are people who have a large investment of time and energy in their blogs and to lose it, or even temporarily lose use of it can be difficult.

That is one of the main reasons I have my own host, then if I have problems I can always move it some place else. To update the domain name servers takes a few hours to a day or so. But you know it can be done if you have to.
