In his book On Writing, Stephen King writes:
- “One of the really bad things you can do to your writing is to dress up the vocabulary, looking for long words because you’re maybe a little bit ashamed of your short ones. This is like dressing up a household pet in evening clothes. The pet is embarrassed and the person who committed this act of premeditated cuteness should be even more embarrassed.
How I Read on the Internet
I think about the way I read on the internet. I can handle about 50 words at a time. If there are more than 50 words at once, they better be very very interesting.
Something that I am just dieing to know about other wise I skip down until I see something that looks like they might be starting a new topic and I try again.
I use this scan and skip method of reading because there is so much to read on the internet I don’t have time to sit and waste my time with 1000 words of something that does not interest me.
So when I am blogging I keep this in mind and I try to get to the point quickly. If I have something important to say I try to say it fast. Then if I want to do into detailed explanation I do that later.
