Buying Websites :: Ask For Screen Shots Of Earnings

I am trying to educate myself about buying websites.  It seems that a reasonable price is around 10 X the monthly income for a lot of sites.

This seems like a good deal for a site that does not take any/much time to run.

The Adsense content sites are the one I am most interested in.

I just looked at one site that was advertised as making $500 per month income from Adsense and an affiliate program.

I send an email to the seller and asked if he had a screen shot of the income, he sent me a screen shot of his Adsense that was $95.00 for the month and the affiliate program screen shot showed $78.00 for the month for a total of $173.  I think it is safe to assume that since I only got 1 month this is probably their best month ever.

The asking price for the site was $5000 which I would have considered paying if I could recover my investment in 10 months ($500 per month) but at $173 per month its going to take 28 months.  There is a big difference between 10 and 28.

So while it is easy to fake a screen shot, always ask for one because if they send you one with about a third of the earnings stated then you can be sure it probably not faked.

Even the $173 may be high, because I was only sent the totals, and it is easy for earnings to be double one month of normal.  So the average earnings for the last 4 months could have easily been around $80.
