Google Base Is Up And Running

Google has come out with their Google Base and the beta version is open for business.

I am not exactly sure I understand the concept, but it looks like they want you to post stuff like:
  • Jobs

  • Course Schedules

  • Events and Activities

  • News and Articles

  • People Profiles

  • Products

  • Recipes

  • Reviews

  • Vehicles

  • Wanted Ads
At least that’s what they have buttons for now.  It looks to me like the idea is kind of like the classified section in your newspaper.  If you have a job announcement you will probably hire someone in the next month then you don’t really want a ton of people contacting you after that because you don’t have that job open anymore.

I noticed one page had a 30 day life then it will get deleted, this page base.google seems to not expire so I will have to check back and see later if it is still there.

There are a few boxes to fill in with your description and a link to your site.

Then you click publish and it tells you that you must have a Google account to publish.

I am sure that when I apply for the Google account all my work will be lost, so I would skip to the end first then go back and really work on one if your actually going to try this.

I don’t use my Google gmail because I have to keep logging in all the time and it’s such a pain, it looks like this works the same way.

I looked up my gmail password and typed it in, then it tells me it is processing and my page will be published soon (at the top it says 15 – 60 minutes).

It will be interesting to see how this will impact the internet.
