Ways To Get More Traffic

A successful website is all about getting traffic.

Infact I think traffic is probably the most important one thing in making a successful website.

I have had super websites and a hand full of people in a year visit them, what good is that?

Now if you had a really crappy website that was getting 100,000 hits a day you could start making improvements to it, change it so that when your visitors got there they found something of interest to them.

If you ever managed that type of traffic you could just hire someone to develop your website.

But realistically it does not work this way, it's more like a stool. You need all 3 legs on a stool to make it stand up by itself, take one away and your stool is not going to stand.

Websites and traffic and links are also like that.

You need a good website to get links and traffic. If your missing one then your website will probably fall over.

Submit to free directories

This is not a bad idea, I am going to write a new website and then submit it to a list of directories then see what kind of results I get.

Write articles and submit them to sites that publish them

Everyone agrees that this is a great way to get links and get your website name out there.

I think this comes down to how good you are as a writer, how efficient you are at pushing your articles, and how lucky you are at getting them picked up.

I think that some luck is involved to start, if you write 2 articles a day and submit them to 100 publishers each for 5 years, then there's not much luck involved it just a matter of how efficient you are.

If you write one article and it gets picked up by slashdot the next day your site is a huge success, you got lucky.

Write and publish a press release

A press release is about like an article only you submit it to different places.

Ad sharing networks, Banner Ads

Over all I am not too excited about these but for some sites they do work.

Reciprocal linking with other sites

This one is my personal favorite way to get traffic, it costs you nothing but your time, and can pay off for years and years.

Buy links from high traffic sites

Just like reciprocal linking this can help you with traffic and page rank from Google.

Write great content

This make other people want to link to your site just because they link it or it is helpful/useful for users.
