I have a tivo series 1, and when I moved it for some reason it decided not to work any more.
I had a software disk that I upgraded it with many years ago, but it's been so long that I can't find it anymore.
So now I need to find a hard disk image for the Tivo Series One and see if I can get this thing to work again.
http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/index9.html - Hinsdale was who I bought the disk image from (the one I lost)
http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvr/stores/1/lba48.cfm - found this page and it has some free downloads on it, not sure if this is what I need or not, since everyone talks about backing up your hard drive first then restoring it. Which is not really what I am trying to do.
http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvr/stores/1/lba48_4.04_license.cfm - got a free download here, not sure if it is what I need or not?
I just remembered that I also have a Tivo series 2, I bought it but didn't buy the service and it is basically locked by the manufacturer when it was built. I never got around to trying to figure out how to use it.
It will let you watch the current channel and pause for 30 minutes, but that is the only function that will work. You can not record anything, or access any menus.
http://www.techstorm.net/tivo/hackseries2.html - has information on how to hack the tivo series 2. It says something about direct tivos downloading information from the satellite but I don't have satellite.
