Small Wins

The bank took some money from my checking account. I called them and told them I would like to have my money back. The customer service person said "no". So I said "you took my money and your refusing to give it back. The customer service person said "yes, that's our policy".

I went to the branch and the branch manager was not in, but the assistant branch manager said she would call to the branch where I opened the account and see if they could do anything. She called me back and left a message that I could call her.

These people really like to waste time... I called back and was told if I made another trip to the branch and deposited some money then they would give me back half of the money they took from me.

So I drove back down there and deposited some money like they asked, and they gave me back half the money they took.

After I got the money in my account, I told them I wasn't happy about the whole thing, and I asked for the regional manager. They gave me the regional managers name and also suggested that I talk to their complaints department.

To get the complaints department, someone at the bank must send an email, then you get a call back, so I told them fine, send the email.

The next day the complaints department called me, and started arguing with me, about their policy, and how they know I was informed. Then they mumbled something about a deposit.

I said what?

They said they would give me back the other half of my money, but that I was wrong and they didn't have to legally because of the notice I was given, then they started to launch into another argument, but I am thinking wait, I won... I just need to get off the phone now.

So I interrupted them, politely thanked them, and hung up.

It was a small win, only $30, but it is a place to start.

I just need to take this win and build on it.
